Créé en 1999 par MM. BAUJARD et DEPLAT, titulaire d’une maîtrise en arts plastiques, le blason d’Abrest est le symbole de la commune.

Un arbre est situé au centre car l’origine d’Abrest est «Arboretum».

Le tracé bleu symbolise l’Allier qui partage la commune en deux parties avec d’un coté la tour de gué et de l’autre les Châteaux.
